Party Hats | Oh Happy Day
One thing I refuse to do on Christmas day is to wear the paper hats from bonbons. Refuse. They are not fun, they are ugly and you forget you’re wearing them and you walk into a servo and people laugh at you and they are stupid. So this Christmas I’m going to make these freakin’ cute party hats to go with the bonbons I’m making. I would wear these to the shops anyday!
Red Velvet Hot Chocolate with Cream Cheese Whipped Cream
4 cups whole milk
1 dash water
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. red food coloring
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 - 4 tbsn. whipped cream cheese, room temperature
In a stand mixer, combine the heavy cream and sugar. Whip on medium speed with the whisk attachment for 2 - 3 minutes. Just before peaks form, add the cream cheese and whisk for another 2 minutes. Taste and add more cream cheese to taste. Be careful not to over whip though, or else you’ll have butter! In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat. Add a splash of water and the chocolate chips, constantly stirring gently. When almost melted, add the red food coloring and stir. When the chocolate chips are thoroughly melted, pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with the whipped cream.

My first sewing machine was actually my mum’s old one. It was a pretty tough machine - it was run over by a car by my dad (they had a tense relationship - haha! no, actually my mum left it behind the car to have it put in the boot, didn’t tell Dad and he reversed over it!) But it blew up in the best fashion, with smoke and everything. It was terrifying and sad. It wasn’t the best machine but it was mine and I loved it! When I went to get a new one, I wasn’t sure of what to look for. The assistant was really helpful - I’m glad I went to a proper store. The machine is a great one, a very basic model with the directions on how to thread it right on the machine.
